A Holywood based creative digital agency is helping one of Belfast’s oldest entertainment venues to reach audiences by creating a new mobile technology solution.
Origin Partners has custom developed a new iPhone application for the Grand Opera House. iPhone owners can now download the application free of charge from the Apple App Store to have up-to-the minute information on performances, schedule information, show synopses, images and video clips at their fingertips. Users can also make a reservation at the venue’s Hippodrome Restaurant, sign up to the Grand Opera House mailing list and click through to automatically call the box office to book tickets.
Jerry Staple, Operations Director of Origin Partners, said:
“The Grand Opera House iPhone app is a fantastic example of using mobile technology to interact with audiences and is a ground breaking step forward for the arts in Northern Ireland. The iPhone market is set to grow substantially over the coming months now that exclusive rights to sell the handset have been lifted. This will make apps an increasingly important communication tool in the future and we are now talking to several other clients about how an app could benefit their business.
“Accessing information on the go is increasingly important to consumers and businesses must respond to this demand. Although many companies can feel intimidated in moving away from traditional marketing strategies to include digital solutions, investing in mobile, email, web, ecommerce or touchscreen technologies are often much more cost effective in the long run than other mediums.”
Since opening its doors on 23 December 1895, the Grand Opera House has delivered an unrivalled programme of entertainment, playing host to some of the greatest names in theatre and music. The venue currently welcomes over 400,000 people through its doors every year and has welcomed 40 shows during 2009 alone.
Paul Coleman, New Media Marketing Officer for the Grand Opera House added:
“We are delighted with the end result and to become part of the growing iPhone community. Origin has helped us focus our digital marketing strategy over the past year to create new, exciting innovations for the benefit of our loyal customers and also to reach new audiences. The application is an excellent way for us to add to the range of methods we use to communicate with our audience and make it as easy as possible to access information about the Grand Opera House and our offering.”
