Project Details

Designed to increase footfall and usage of the Glasgow Subway, iShoogle gives commuters a fun way to navigate the city with live Subway line updates, trivia, competitions, maps and guides. The development also offers directions to local shops, eateries and attractions near the 15 Subway stations and introduces game elements for those who wish to share their location on social media.

“We invested time to find out what commuters most want and need on a transport app. That insight has helped SPT deliver a service that outstrips most of the world’s biggest subways. The iShoogle is much more than a mobile information kiosk. It’s about using smart user-focused information and entertainment to create customer communities and repeat visits.

“This has been a major deal for us and shows we are competing with the best digital agencies in the UK and Ireland. Our focus on high quality outputs and acommitment to deliver on budget and time has helped us secure lucrative contracts with top market players. This project with SPT is further evidence that our strategy is working.” (Jerry Staple, Origin)

The Glasgow Subway has 15 stations spanning thecity centre and its West End. It is the third-oldest underground metro system in the world after the London Underground and the Budapest Metro.

“Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) has led the way in harnessing the power of social media, and launching the iShoogle app is the next logical step for us. Effective use of such emerging technology is key to offering customers the best possible service and, working closely with the team at Origins Partners, we’ve created a truly unique example of mobile media. We’re confident that iShoogle will enhance the overall experience of using the Subway as the most efficient way to travel around Glasgow.” (George Redmond, SPT Chair)
