Origin Mobile Platform -
Origin Partners have developed a platform to enable clients to effectively harness the potential of mobile content delivery. The Origin Mobile Platform (OMP) is a flexible resource which effectively supports a comprehensive range of mobile marketing activities.
The OMP supports the following range of activities and services:

Messaging
The OMP Gateway is an automated system with direct connections to mobile networks. The OMP can deliver SMS Text messages to almost all GSM mobile phone networks around the World. The OMP Gateway supports a variety of delivery notifications, from receipt of the outbound message, to delivery to the networks, and delivery to the mobile phone user.
1-Way SMS
The OMP gateway can operate on a standalone basis for bespoke applications or can be integrated into existing web applications allowing companies to send SMS text messages directly from their website or web-based application.
2-Way SMS
2-Way SMS works in relation to Short codes or virtual numbers. Once a Virtual number/ shortcode has been assigned. Any SMS text messages delivered to the shortcode/virtual number will be relayed to the OMP gateway. The OMP gateway will then process the SMS text message and return information directly back to the originating device.
The service can be set up for Premium billing generating a revenue share on each text message delivered to the shortcode/virtual number.
Premium Rate SMS
Premium Rate SMS or reverse-bill SMS services allow you to charge a premium rate for content delivered to an end-user’s handset.
The majority of UK Premium Rate SMS Services are Mobile Terminated billed: the end-user is billed for receiving an SMS message from the short code. Origin Partners also offer some MO or Mobile Originated billed services where the end-user is billed for sending an SMS message to the short code.
WAP Push
WAP Push remains the premier method of delivering multimedia content to mobile handsets in the market today.
A WAP Push is effectively a specially formatted SMS which includes a URL. The WAP Push directs the user to a WAP address where particular content is stored ready for viewing or downloading. The address could be a simple page or an entire WAP site. A major benefit of WAP Push is the ability to send a URL to a mobile subscriber without the need for them to manually type it into their phone.
Useful Applications
The various forms of messaging lend themselves extremely well to mobile marketing campaigns. Competitions, Voting etc
Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS)
Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) allows mobile phone users to send and receive multimedia content that includes text, images, audio, video clips and graphics.
With the OMP direct connection into various mobile networks, both MMS and WAP Push can be used to deliver and receive multimedia content.
With WAP Push, the end user receives a WAP Push SMS message on their handset that contains a URL from which the multimedia content can be downloaded.
With the OMP MMS Gateway, the end user receives an MMS message on their handset.
Useful Applications
• Field workers can send pictures of works in progress or damaged field equipment back to base for immediate analysis and recommendations
• Send content rich promotional messages to customers
Location Based Services
After submitting a request to locate a certain mobile number, the mobile operators' location platform provides a result that contains X, Y and Z values. The X and Y are coordinates and the Z value is a radius in metres from point represented by the X and Y. The size of the area depends on the size of the cell, which tends to be smaller in urban areas and larger in less densely populated areas.
Useful Applications
• Locate local services – Hotels, Bars
• Targeted marketing campaigns
Short-code Service
Shortcodes are generally 5 figure numbers that can be texted to from the major UK mobile networks. Dedicated short codes are quite expensive and often out of the reach of smaller companies. Origin Partners now offer a shared shortcode service as many companies only need one keyword on a short code.
Bluetooth/ Infrared Marketing Services
The OMP Bluetooth/infrared service is based on an intelligent combination of infrared / Bluetooth technology and SMS services. The Bluetooth receiver is installed as part of advertising media (e.g. Billboard, Bus Shelter, Window display) attracting attention with the regular flashing of its LED display. As soon as an interested passer-by points his/her mobile phone at the display with an active infrared or Bluetooth connection, the device automatically generates a request SMS from the users’ phone to the OMP gateway. The OMP gateway then reacts to the request by; sending a message or link to the user, entering them into a competition, adding them to a mailing list etc.
