Olly has been extremely&nbsp;well received since the show launched on CITV&nbsp;in June and organisations from around the world are keen to get involved with the brand. </p>
<p>We produced an interactive application to give delegates an overview of the show using Olly's steering wheel to navigate to view clips and details on the commercial and educational elements of the show.</p>

<p>As part of the evolvement and improvement of their digital services Citypost have partnered with Origin to deliver a series of projects. The first of these is CityPost's new online service Zero.<br />
Zero enables customers to securely upload the documents they wish to send and have them printed and posted all for less than the price of a stamp.</p>

<p class="txt"> Business Intelligence de Plimsoll allows customers to analyse how a particular French market sector compares to others in the economy including how profitable it is and how much it is growing or shrinking. The app provides insight into more than 600 key sectors in France. Users can search by sector to find out the latest key data in each sector and how it compares to others.</P> 

<p class="txt"> At Origin Partners, our ethos is not to reinvent the wheel but to try, when and wherever possible,&nbsp;&nbsp; to utilise the client&rsquo;s existing systems/databases in order to make it an easy and less labour intensive transition.&nbsp; Due to the regular changes in industry data, we integrated directly into Plimsoll&rsquo;s in-house reporting database whereby any changes in the statistics of a particular French industry will be automatically synchronised with the app. The app also uses Apple Push Notification to notify customers of the latest filed accounts of companies in respect of which they have previously ordered industry reports. </P>

Origin Partners were engaged by Barclay Telecom to develop an iPhone app that integrates into a selection of hosted phone services provided by Clarity Telecom. The app functions include: </p>

<p class="txt">The app integrates into the existing hosted phone service platform in order to authenticate and allocate to customers the necessary information and codes in order to utilise Clarity Telecom&rsquo;s phone services. The app also seamlessly integrates each service into the iPhone&rsquo;s built in address book.<br />

MIS Claims are currently undergoing a major business and marketing initiative developing key areas of the business in order to engage and interact with new and existing customers. MIS saw mobile as fundamental part of their overall strategy. Origin Partners were engaged by MIS to develop an app to be made available on both iPhone and Android.

The free iPhone/Android app allows customers to pin point the current location of the device in order to assist in breakdown recovery (GPS) whilst identifying the nearest approved repairers (UK & Ireland). The app also allows customers to submit a vehicle claim including photographs of the accident scene that will be instantly received by a MIS claims handler. Both apps utilise Origin’s synchronisation platform in order to ensure that all devices contain the most up to date information at all times.

&ldquo;The Ulster Orchestra are an excellent example of an organisation keen to fully integrate digital into their marketing and communications, and this project is an excellent addition to our growing App portfolio&rdquo;, says Jonathan Kelly of Origin Partners. <br />
&ldquo;This type of interactive tool provides organisations such as the Orchestra with instant communication, as well as opening up its concerts to a wider audience. <p>Launched in October 2009, the Grand Opera House is the only local arts organisation to embrace the new technology, and were among the first organisations in Northern Ireland to successfully develop and launch a branded iPhone application.</p>

The site showcases the brand and product range with some nice interactive and promotional functionality, including the “How bread is made” flash game for kids and the Ormo competitions section. The site also encourages user-generated content through the Your Ormo section where users can submit their Ormo recipes and memories.
Phase 2 will include an interactive timeline of the brand and interactive quiz for kids.

<p>Origin Partners has custom developed a new iPhone application for the Grand Opera House.&nbsp; iPhone owners can now download the application free of charge from the Apple App Store to have up-to-the minute information on performances, schedule information, show synopses, images and video clips at their fingertips. Users can also make a reservation at the venue&rsquo;s Hippodrome Restaurant, sign up to the Grand&nbsp; Opera House mailing list and click through to automatically call the box office to book tickets.</p>

<p>In fact, Origin&rsquo;s partnership with Carphone Warehouse was a result of an initial cold call from Jonathan to Carphone Warehouse in London, last September. Origin presented a proposal for a touch window application which allowed customers to view and enquire about products, services, prices and packages simply by touching the shop window. Following their pitch, the application was installed in Carphone Warehouses&rsquo; flagship Oxford Street store in London at the end of last year and is potentially being rolled out to key footfall locations within the UK later this year. </p>

Having passing shoppers putting their mitts on the glass isn&rsquo;t something most retailers would encourage &ndash; have you seen how much window cleaners charge these days?</p>
<p>But, at Carphone Warehouse, a trial of an interactive window is taking place, using technology that turns the pane into a giant touchscreen. Round the corner, at the Orange store on Carnaby Street, there is a similar plea. In this case, a wave of your hand in front of the window brings up content on a large projector screen.</p>
<p>No one was using either screen on a Saturday night when Retail Week went down to take a look, but it was a warm evening and central London&rsquo;s revellers clearly had other priorities. Both installations are producing positive results, according to the retailers.</p>
<p>The interactive window at Carphone Warehouse is a pilot of a bespoke system called Carphone Warehouse Vision, created by the Belfast-based company Origin Partners.</p>
<p>Origin Partners commercial director Jonathan Kelly explains how the trial came about. &ldquo;We started talking to Carphone Warehouse in February last year. It was just speculative on our part; we thought the technology had legs for a large retailer, as once it is created it can be rolled out to many stores,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;Carphone Warehouse knows how many people come into the store, and also has an idea of how many people come past the store. It wants to capture some of that passing traffic.&rdquo;</p>
<p>After the deal for the pilot was signed in September, the system was rolled out at a Carphone Warehouse store on Oxford Street in the run-up to Christmas. Kelly admits both companies have been on a steep learning curve since then.</p>
<p>The interactive technology is made up of two projection systems and a 50-inch screen in the window. A special foil has been stuck to the glass of the window to effectively turn it into a touchscreen, which operates the display behind it.</p>
<p>Kelly explains: &ldquo;You can use a projector or an LCD screen in a window running off a PC. The magic is the foil that is used on the window.&rdquo;</p>
<p>While the hardware has been available for several years, there is still much work to be done to refine the user interface and tailor the content to make it relevant and appealing to consumers on the street. Kelly says that a lot of time was invested in the &ldquo;spinning&rdquo; menus, for instance. The developers looked at other popular user interfaces, such as the operating system for Apple computers and Radio One&rsquo;s web site. &ldquo;The application is 100 per cent bespoke to Carphone Warehouse,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;We said that we would create something that would work for them.&rdquo;</p>
<p>The interfaces have all been designed specifically with the touchscreen in mind. Kelly says the developers took note of the poor user experience offered by some early kiosks &ndash; where often the user was not sure whether touching the screen was having any effect. He says: &ldquo;It is important that the user knows that they have touched it.&rdquo;</p>
<p>The focus of the content is on the products and services that Carphone Warehouse has branched out into, such as broadband, the Geek Squad technology support service and selling iPhones.</p>
<p>Kelly adds that a lot of the content has been repurposed from elsewhere. For instance, text and images have been taken from other media, such as Carphone Warehouse&rsquo;s web site. Other content &ndash; such as short videos &ndash; has been adapted to make it relevant to where it will be viewed.</p>

The system provides information on Stone Types, Quarries and over 1500 Natural Stone buildings in Northern Ireland and provides an excellent resource for architects, students, researchers and conservationists across the world.</p>
<p>The Natural Stone Database Project is a first step in addressing some of the lack of information for stone conservation in Northern Ireland. The project is a unique partnership between industry and research in Northern Ireland that combines the research knowledge of the Stone Weathering Research Group at Queen's <br />
with the extensive practical experience of Consarc Design Group.</p>
<p>The project comprised an extensive two and a half year programme of surveying, stone sampling and analysis which was used to produce an interactive, database of listed buildings, monuments and stone quarries 'The Natural Stone Database' and 'Guidance Notes' for the Environment and Heritage Service of Northern Ireland.</p>

The Strategy Analytics Wireless Media Lab looked at e-commerce sites eBay, lastminute.com and Odeon Cinema and the mobile offerings they put forward. It found that mobile customers wanted to be able to buy through their handsets, something some companies overlook. The e-commerce giants mobile offerings paled in comparison to their fixed internet sites, with the lack of payment facilities being a major bugbear for users. The report found that users were extremely dissatisfied with some of the sites, and expected to be able to buy content from lastminute.com and Odeon Cinema, or bid for items on eBay through its mobile portal.&nbsp; In contrast, Amazon and iTunes were the most sought-after mobile e-commerce sites. Consumers were profoundly dissatisfied with the concept of only using the m-commerce sites for research and pre-purchase evaluation; said Paul Brown, senior analyst, user experience research. Participants were surprised and disappointed that when using the lastminute.com mobile portal they could search for flights and vacations but could not purchase either tickets or trips.The analysts said that to be successful, mobile commerce sites needed to offer users the core features they associate with the brand. In order to ignite m-commerce transactions, m-commerce sites must offer efficient search engines, the ability to customise results and assurance of secure transactions,said David Kerr, vice president of the Global Wireless Practice. <p>Boris Becker, Ralph Lauren's brand ambassador and Wimbledon tennis champion, demonstrated the &quot;window shopping&quot; screen, which guides shoppers through the brand's Wimbledon clothing line and shows video tennis clips.</p>
<p>The content is projected onto 78 inch interactive foils on the inside of the window where customers can stroll up and browse/buy products at any time of day or night. If a purchase is made, shoppers are contacted by e-mail or phone the next day to securely enter their payment information and arrange for shipping.</p>
<p>The interactive window will also show live Wimbledon scores during the tournament and even features video tennis tips.</p>
<p>Ralph Lauren piloted the technology at their New York and Chicago stores last year. Not so it seems.</p>
<p>According to the Office of Fair Trading the UK internet shopping market is estimated to be worth more than &pound;21.4bn, and last year over 20 million people shopped online with nearly a third of them spending &pound;1,000-plus.&nbsp; However a recent survey by Barclaycard has indicated that many established UK Retailers have yet to fully embrace ecommerce.</p>
<p>According to the survey over two thirds of UK retailers are missing out on potential revenues by not offering their goods for sale online. Feedback showed that the slow uptake is because of the perception that set up costs are too high and that a high level of technical know-how is needed to manage the process. </p>
<p>The amount of time a business had been trading was also a major factor. Of those retailers that had set up less than 2 years ago, 32% traded online, while for businesses older than 10 years, the figure was just 23%. </p>
<p>The opportunity for established retailers to boost local sales and grow new markets online is there to be taken. Consumer habits are changing with ecommerce now becoming a feature within local economies. The availability of broadband, removal of the 'hassle factor' and the security of purchasing from retailers that the buyer knows and trusts is boosting 'local ebusiness'. </p>
